Nourish
Feeling super alive, vibrant and healthy is honestly not rocket science. It’s very uncomplicated, actually.
I first learned about simple and vibrant health from the Seventh Day Adventists.
I am not an Adventist, but I have loosely followed their health and eating program ever since I learned about them many years ago. They’ve been studied a lot and they are now considered one of Dan Buettner’s Blue Zones - meaning - they’re one of the healthiest groups of people on the planet.
Because of them, I have always had a happy baseline from which to operate my health life. Sometimes I get blown off course just like you do, with the latest health fads and new “studies.” The incredible barrage of conflicting health information is enough to make even the most knowledgeable and dedicated of us want to crawl into a hole and give up.
But we don’t need to. Starting with what we eat, the basics are simple - eat four to five servings of fresh, organic veggies and fruit every day. Drastically limit sugar, except that which is found in organic fruit as it came off the bush or tree. Drink clean water, not soda pop or so-called “health drinks.” (Honestly, who are we kidding and why?), and eat the healthiest protein you can find. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, eat beans and legumes. If you’re a meat eater, eat more wild (not farmed) fish and organic, grass-fed free range poultry and eggs. And don’t try to be perfect because the pursuit of perfection does nothing but cause stress. Aim for a happy balance.
