Financial Simplicity

Pillar No. 3

It’s honestly simple.

The most straightforward video lesson I have ever seen about simplicity and money is from this old SNL skit with Steve Martin called, “Don’t Buy Stuff.” I really don’t need to say any more.

The essence of the skit is: “Don’t buy stuff you cannot afford.” If you spend more than you earn, you’re in debt to someone or something and then your life belongs to that entity or person who holds the debt. Now you have to work at a job you may or may not like….and so on.

Not only does overspending hold you hostage, but it also adds clutter to your life, since a lot of spending involves buying stuff you probably don’t need.
